Ferrara Showman Gallery is a commercial gallery with a public conscience, based in the Arts District of New Orleans. Founded in 1998 to give young and emerging artists a voice, it is co-owned by artist and activist Jonathan Ferrara and art historian and curator Matthew Weldon Showman. Its program features local, national and international contemporary artists whose work spans painting, photography, public sculpture, video and installation. The gallery is known for projects such as the annual No Dead Artists International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art and Guns in the Hands of Artists, and for its extensive support of the Prospect New Orleans Triennial. It has presented artists in cities across the United States, Asia, Central and South America, Europe and the Middle East, working with museums and institutions including the Smithsonian and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
