Great Basin National Park Foundation

Great Basin National Park Foundation is the official non-profit partner of Great Basin National Park. Established in 1998 by Bonnie Bryan, Nevada's First Lady, it works to enhance, preserve and interpret the park's starry night skies, wide-open scenery, cultural heritage and diverse native ecosystems. The 501(c)(3) foundation has raised over three million dollars through its donors to support the park. Its projects include building a new Visitor Center in Baker, Nevada, maintaining and expanding access to park trails, and an oral history project preserving the region's cultural heritage. It also expanded the park's astronomy programs, leading to the planning, building and oversight of the Great Basin Observatory, the first research-grade astronomical observatory built in a U.S. national park. Its work spans astronomy, education, outreach and the park experience.
