Gullkistan is an artist residency in a quiet village by Laugarvatn Lake in south Iceland, with a view of the Hekla volcano. It offers two studios with shared tools, materials and WiFi, and accommodation from single rooms to studio apartments. The residency welcomes artists and scholars who want to work, create and be inspired by the South Icelandic countryside. Beyond individual residencies, Gullkistan hosts international student groups working with their professors. It has also been a place for workshops, seminars, art courses, exhibitions and open studios, and it invites proposals from people who want to run their own projects there.
