Haihatus is an independent, artist-run contemporary art centre in Joutsa, Central Finland. It occupies three historic buildings on the edge of open fields, with about 1,500 m² of studios, workshops, exhibition and performance spaces and an outdoor sculpture park. The centre runs an artist residency that gives participants unstructured time to develop a practice, research or experiment, without any requirement to produce finished work. Each summer it hosts an exhibition that draws thousands of visitors, and local and residency artists hold concerts, performances and workshops throughout the year. It also offers exhibition space and venue rental, art camping, a vegan summer café and community projects such as Kukkiva kylä and Waves of Creativity.
