Hangar

Hangar is an independent Art Research Centre located in the historic Graça neighbourhood of Lisbon, run by artists and curators. It contemplates the visual arts and attracts practitioners from many countries and cultures, encouraging cross-disciplinary artistic projects. Conceived as a centre for artistic experimentation, it provides space for exhibitions and artistic residencies while supporting a Participation Program of educational services and a Research Program of seminars and publications. Hangar aims to catalyse communication between artists, researchers and other artistic initiatives, and to encourage discussion about emerging contemporary art.
