Bulgaria's first print biennial, among Europe's ten oldest graphic art events, held in Varna since 1981.
The International Print Biennial - Varna is the first of its kind in Bulgaria and among the ten oldest events for graphic art in Europe. Its twenty-third edition marked the 46th year since its creation, and it brings together artists from over 57 countries. Awards are decided by an international jury and include the Grand Prize of the City of Varna. The biennial is documented in a bilingual colour catalogue sent to participants and cultural institutions in Bulgaria and abroad. It is organised by Varna Municipality, the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria and the Union of Bulgarian Artists, with the Graphic Art Gallery - Varna as direct executor, and has been under UNESCO auspices since 2001.
