A Bay Area art-making hub supporting artists through residencies, fellowships, exhibitions, and education.
Kala Art Institute is a California art-making hub whose mission is to help artists sustain their creative work over time through its Artist-in-Residence and Fellowship Programs, while engaging the community through exhibitions, public programs, and education. It offers professional facilities for artists working in and across printmaking and digital media, installation, sound, sculpture, and performance. Beyond its residencies and fellowships, Kala runs a gallery presenting rotating exhibitions, adult art classes, and after-school and teen studio programs for young artists. It is located in Huichin, the home territory of Chochenyo speaking Ohlone people, on unceded Lisjan Ohlone land in the Bay Area.
