An author-led month-long writing residency in a traditional Japanese house on the Seto Inland Sea.
The Kiseki Writing Retreat is an author-led creative writing residency based in a restored Japanese house in a small village on the Seto Inland Sea in Hyogo, Japan. It is hosted by British author, creative practitioner and former academic Sarah Holding, and welcomes writers at any stage of their careers working in any genre. Participants stay for a month at a time, living communally in a traditional Japanese house with shared work and living spaces. Alongside dedicated writing time, residents experience daily life in a small coastal community and explore the surrounding landscape, temples, shrines and gardens of the region.
