Nonprofit foundation preserving Northeastern Pennsylvania ecosystems through research, education and conservation.
Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation, research, and education of natural ecosystems in Northeastern Pennsylvania. As steward of Lacawac Sanctuary, a 545-acre nature preserve, biological field station, and environmental education center, the foundation protects a pristine glacial lake, diverse forest ecosystems, wetlands, and historic structures. Today the foundation manages four preserves and sanctuaries across Wayne and Pike Counties, protecting more than 749 acres of ecologically significant land. It serves as a vital resource for scientists, students, and the community, offering hands-on environmental education, field studies, and citizen science programs alongside ongoing ecological research.
