Laguna Beach association dedicated to preserving and continuing the plein air painting tradition.
The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association was founded in Laguna Beach in 1996 to preserve the history of 19th-century California plein air painting, support the tradition as it exists today, and foster a network of plein air painters nationwide. It considers itself the steward of Laguna's plein air legacy, which helped establish the town as an artists' colony in 1903. The association is committed to continuing the plein air painting tradition through art shows, events, workshops and classes, and an annual Laguna Beach plein air painting invitational. Its gallery is at 414 N. Coast Hwy. in Laguna Beach, open Thursday through Monday.
