LETTERS is a semi-annual literary journal that engages religion, spirituality, and belief within contemporary experience. It publishes fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. The journal defines faith in terms that are both broad and particular, holding that art need not be denominational or doctrinal to be faithful. It publishes work ranging from deep conviction to difficult doubt, and looks above all for work that rings of the true, the beautiful, and the virtuous. LETTERS is supported by the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and run by students at the Institute and Yale Divinity School. It is edited by a prose editor and a poetry editor, and also offers the Frederick Buechner Prize.
