Liberation is a small, cross-disciplinary gallery and studio project for artists, curators, writers and culinary practitioners whose work engages equity, social imagination and collective making. It describes itself as a participatory, artist-led environment that runs on a break-even, non-extractive model, with modest fees supporting access to space, tools, programming and visibility. It offers 3 to 12 month studio residencies with semi-private studio bays and shared wood, metal and fabrication tools, along with short curatorial micro-residencies and digital residencies for non-local artists. Weekly programming includes studio visits, talks, critiques and collaborative community interventions. The public gallery is a converted shipping container that hosts exhibitions, screenings, performances and pop-ups, including resident-led shows and community projects. A culinary residency for marginalized chefs and food-based artists is planned for a later phase.
