A Shanghai national museum devoted to artist Liu Haisu's art, education and legacy.
Liu Haisu Art Museum is a Shanghai-based national museum integrating collection, academic research, exhibition, education and cross-cultural exchange. It is named after the renowned Chinese artist Liu Haisu, a pioneer of the fine arts movement and modern art education in China, who donated his own art works and collections to the country. The museum was officially opened to the public on March 16, 1995, and relocated in September 2012 to a new state-level building on Yan'an Road (West), which features six exhibition halls, a lecture hall, reading room, auditorium and multi-function hall. Guided by Liu Haisu's art spirit, the museum focuses on academic research, art education and the promotion of young talent in Chinese art.
