The Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports, mentors and promotes visual storytellers at all stages of life and career. Each year it offers the public over 150 exhibitions, classes, workshops, public programs, portfolio reviews and events, both online and in person from its home in Downtown Los Angeles. It also runs certificate and one-year professional programs, a digital print lab, a youth and community outreach program, and the Sugarshack Scholarship Fund for emerging artists. The center began as the Julia Dean Photo Workshops, founded in Venice Beach in 1999, and was re-formed as LACP in 2013.
