Nonprofit experimental art space in Hollywood presenting exhibitions, performances and public projects since 1978.
LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) champions artists, curators, and cultural workers who explore and defy boundaries through socially-engaged projects. Founded in 1978 by a group of thirteen artists, it is a nonprofit venue that exhibits and advocates for innovations in art-making and public engagement, including performance art, video art, digital art, and installation. Located in a free, open-to-the-public storefront space on Hollywood Blvd., LACE has presented the work of more than 5,000 artists in 3,000 programs and events over nearly 50 years. Its programming is complemented by education initiatives such as Creative Capital Workshops and the Sustainability Network, supported by partners including the Getty and Warhol Foundations.
