National nonprofit society advancing printmaking through its biennial National exhibition, workshops and member shows.
Los Angeles Printmaking Society (LAPS) is a national non-profit dedicated to the encouragement of printmaking, the interests of artists who make prints, and the general advancement of printmaking in public awareness and education. Founded in 1962 by artists Connor Everts and Paul Darrow, LAPS has grown into an international society with members across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, South Korea and Egypt. Its biennial exhibition, The National, brings together artists of international stature with those juried in by prominent curators and artists. LAPS also sponsors membership exhibitions, printmaking demonstrations and workshops, school programs, and an annual Earth Day event supporting artist advocacy on climate change. The LAPS Foundation, established in 1987, supports the next generation of artist printmakers in Southern California through annual scholarship grant awards for student printmakers.
