The Madison Art Society is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1976 by a small group of artists in Madison, Connecticut. It promotes, sponsors and encourages excellence in the arts for artists at all levels of experience in Madison and the surrounding shoreline towns. The society presents member shows, guest-juried exhibitions, elected artist shows and open receptions, with a long-standing partnership with the E. Scranton Memorial Library as an exhibition venue. Members can take part in critiques, plein air painting, still life and portrait workshops, demonstrations and lectures, and the society offers free educational demonstrations open to the public. It also supports student artists and works with other nonprofit organizations. Around 250 members take part in the society's community of artists.
