MASEREEL

MASEREEL is a contemporary art centre in Kasterlee, Belgium, combining an artist-focused exhibition and publishing programme with an international residency for artists and critics. Its work centres on printed matter: it produces and presents contemporary visual art, publishes artist books and editions, and runs a graphic workshop with print and etching studios. The centre also organises artist talks and the biennial international art festival RHIZOMA, held on and around its site since 2025. Residents work in a dedicated artists' pavilion in a wooded setting, with the emphasis on development, creation and dialogue. MASEREEL is also working to make its extensive collection accessible to researchers. The centre was founded in 1972 under the name of Frans Masereel and was renamed MASEREEL in March 2025.
