The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center is a historic theater and arts center in downtown Spearfish, in the Black Hills. It offers a stage for touring musicians and homegrown theater productions, alongside films, auditions and community events.
Its visual arts program includes the annual Community Art Show, the Spearfish ArtWalk and a free weekly makeSPACE creating session. Workshops and classes are open to people of all experience levels.
The center is supported by donations and an annual fund, which helps preserve the historic building and keep the arts within reach of the whole community.
