Metro Water Recovery

Metro Water Recovery is a large, stand-alone special district formed by the Colorado legislature in 1961 as the Metropolitan Denver Sewage Disposal District No. 1. It provides wastewater transmission and treatment services to member municipalities and special connectors across the Denver metro area, including parts of Adams, Arapahoe, Jefferson, Douglas, and Weld counties. The district operates treatment facilities including the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility, which began operating in 1966, and the Northern Treatment Plant. Its mission is to protect the region's health and environment by cleaning water and recovering resources suitable for agriculture, aquatic life, recreation, and water supply.
