The international leader for contemporary art and creativity in the material of wood.
The Museum for Art in Wood engages, educates, and inspires the public through the exhibition, collection, and interpretation of contemporary art in wood. Recognized as the international leader for contemporary art and creativity in the material of wood, the Museum holds a permanent collection of some 1,200 hand-made objects from around the world, ranging from functional everyday objects to contemporary sculptures. It hosts the Windgate Arts Residency Program in Wood (WARP Wood), bringing resident fellows together each summer to live and work in Philadelphia, alongside a Winter Residency for artists in the Greater Philadelphia region. Beyond exhibitions, the Museum offers workshops, master classes, guided tours, a research library, and community events such as its First Friday speaker series.
