The New Orleans Photo Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that encourages the understanding and appreciation of photography through exhibitions, opportunities and educational programs. It has served the southern photography community since 2005. Its home base, the NOPA Center in uptown New Orleans, offers a film development darkroom, workshops, a rotating gallery with regular open calls, and studio and event space for rent. Members can also list their work in an online photographer directory. The Alliance also runs PhotoNOLA, which includes a portfolio review program and the annual CURRENTS showcase exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. It offers grants and awards, including the Michael P. Smith Fund and the Clarence John Laughlin Award.
