OBRA Collective

OBRA, short for Observe, Bridge, Respond, Art, is an interdisciplinary Latinx arts group based in Charlotte, North Carolina. It offers educational programs and highlights Latinx and immigrant artists through classes, workshops, exhibitions, artist studios and artist support. The group was formed in 2013 by members who were involved with the Latin American Coalition in Charlotte. They were inspired by a caravan of undocumented immigrants, many of them artists, who traveled across the country to raise awareness about immigration reform. Noticing that Charlotte had no Latinx, immigrant and activist-minded arts group, they created OBRA.
