Old School Art House is a sustainable, non-profit artist residency that has operated since 2010 on Hrísey, a small island off the north coast of Iceland near the Arctic Circle. The residency is housed in a converted old school with four private bedrooms, a shared studio, a sitting room with kitchen, and internet access. Its main objective is to provide an opportunity for international exchange, where professional artists in all media, including writers and performing artists, can meet, exchange ideas and possibly collaborate in a peaceful setting. It welcomes individuals and groups, runs an ongoing open call for applications, and offers each resident the chance to put up an exhibition at the end of their stay.
