The Pastel Art Promotion Association of Taiwan (PAPAT) was founded in 2015 with the aim of promoting pastel painting in Taiwan and giving it a place in the world pastel community. It runs national pastel competitions every year, with an in-person contest and quarterly online contests, and has helped discover many amateur and professional pastel artists.
The association builds links with pastel groups in mainland China and encourages its members to enter international pastel exhibitions and competitions. It also invites leading pastel artists from Europe, Russia and the United States to teach and exhibit in Taiwan, including a 2023 touring show of 85 works in Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung. Its website offers online registration for contests and selections, and online galleries of competition, selected and member works.
