The Pastel Society of America is the oldest pastel society in the United States, founded in 1972 by Flora B. Giffuni. It is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of pastel as a major artistic medium, and it has more than 1,800 artist members in the U.S. and abroad. Membership has three juried levels: Associate, Signature and Master Pastelist. The society holds an annual international juried exhibition at the National Arts Club in New York, with awards and an annual Hall of Fame election. It also runs a members-only international online exhibition. Through workshops, studio sessions, master classes, critiques, lectures and educational resources, it supports pastel artists at every stage of their development.
