Nonprofit that funds conservation and docent tours at Mission San Xavier del Bac in Tucson.
Patronato San Xavier funds and directs ethical conservation, conducts scientific research, and conveys the significance of Mission San Xavier del Bac, a National Historic Landmark in the community of Wa:k, part of the Tohono O'odham Nation. Its volunteer docent program, begun in 2011, offers donation-based tours that cover the Wa:k community's history, the Mission's founding and its architecture. The organization's current priority is stabilizing and rehabilitating the retablo façade, and it has raised and spent over $18 million on preservation projects to date. Patronato also presents an annual Christmas concert series at the Mission.
