An independent journal publishing contemporary visual art, poetry, and writing across disciplines.
The Penn Journal of Arts & Sciences (PJAS) is an independent publication founded in 2024 devoted to contemporary creative work across visual art, poetry, and writing. It publishes online at pjasmag.org throughout the year and releases four print issues annually, with print editions shaped through an editorial process favoring work with a clear sense of form and direction. PJAS was founded by Sophie Kadan (University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2025), whose background in both art and research informs the publication's interdisciplinary approach. The journal continues to expand beyond the university, working with artists and writers whose practices feel considered, precise, and fully their own.
