Plein Air Washington Artists is a membership organization for artists who love painting outdoors in natural light. It welcomes members of every skill level, from professionals to beginners, working in watercolor, acrylic, oil or pastel. Founded in 2000, it has grown to over 340 members and organizes 15-20 paint-outs each year across Washington state and beyond, plus winter paint-ins. Each year it holds two member shows, the summer "Little Gems" show at the Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes and a winter show at the Cole Gallery in Edmonds. A nationally known plein air artist is invited to judge each show and lead a workshop. Members share techniques, equipment and friendship, and advertising members can promote their own gallery pages, workshops and classes.
