The South Dakota Arts Council is the state arts agency of South Dakota, based in Pierre and part of the state Department of Tourism. It works to advance South Dakota's artistic and cultural vitality through funding, connection and resources, with support from the State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The council awards grants, initiatives and special projects to arts organizations, schools and artists across the state, and provides encouragement, services and information to artists, arts organizations, schools and the public. An advisory board appointed by the Governor guides its work.
