Southeast Neighborhood Development (SEND) is a community development corporation that advocates for housing, economic and social equity on the southeast side of Indianapolis. It works with residents, business owners and community partners to create and maintain inclusive, healthy and vibrant neighborhoods. Formed in 1993 through the merger of neighborhood groups, SEND has invested more than $40 million in affordable housing, commercial renovation, small business support, and greenspace and public space improvements. Its work includes transforming vacant houses into affordable homes, repairing homes for existing owners, developing affordable rentals for seniors, families and artists, and leasing commercial space. Current efforts include Hannah Commons, a Microenterprise program and a combined Quality of Life plan.
