StartArt Creative House is an art residency and creative house in Loureira, Vila Verde, a quiet village in northern Portugal between Braga and the Peneda-Gerês mountains. It offers residencies of one to four weeks, with room, meals and studio space provided so guests can focus on their work, and no portfolio is required.
The house also runs one-day workshops with practising artists, covering murals, canvas painting and photography, and no prior experience is needed. Its stays are open to artists, committed amateurs and remote workers who want to live and work alongside others. The house describes its purpose as creating, connecting and belonging, and it keeps a journal of the people who have passed through.
