State Street District

The State Street District, formerly the State Street Area Association, is a nonprofit membership association working to build a vibrant downtown community in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It brings together entrepreneurs, building owners, city officials, national chains, nonprofits, University staff and residents through partnerships, initiatives, programs and events. The District takes an active role in downtown development and planning decisions, and supports a cleaner, safer and more welcoming downtown. It also provides resources such as business support, banner requests, parking information and a downtown directory of arts, dining, retail and services. It founded the State Street Art Fair in 1967, one of the three fairs that make up the Ann Arbor Art Fair. Its stated mission is to foster a thriving, connected and inclusive downtown community.
