The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art, also called the Steffen Thomas Museum and Archives, was founded in Buckhead, Georgia, in 1997 by Sara Thomas, the artist's wife. She had the idea of a museum to honor her husband, the artist Steffen Thomas.
The museum holds a large collection of Thomas's art. It is dedicated to researching and documenting his life's work. It is one of the few organizations in the country devoted to a single artist.
Its stated mission is education. It runs art programs for children and families in rural Northeast and Middle Georgia, using Thomas's work as a teaching tool.
