UNDERSTORY is an artist-run gallery and studio space inside 78th Street Studios in Cleveland. It exhibits interdisciplinary and conceptual work by regional and emerging artists, promoting experimental art, creative dialogue and community engagement. The gallery was founded by Susan Snipes, and she and three other artists keep their studios in the space.
It is driven by a commitment to creative exchange rather than commercial gain, giving artists the freedom to take risks with work that might not fit traditional gallery spaces. Beyond its exhibitions, it runs a Sessions series, publishes articles about its shows, and joins the monthly Third Friday art walk.
