Public university system with 11 units and more than 450 academic programs across Puerto Rico.
The University of Puerto Rico is a public university system with 11 units across the island, marking 120 years of history. It offers more than 450 academic programs, from associate degrees through bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, including a Juris Doctor. The university is a leading research institution, conducting about 90% of the research generated in Puerto Rico through federal and agency grants. It also runs a financial aid model under which roughly 80 percent of degree students have their tuition fully covered, and a student advocacy office that protects student rights. Through the Liga Atlética Interuniversitaria, whose management it leads, the university fields sports programs across all of its campuses.
