The Village of Pinecrest was incorporated on March 12, 1996. It is governed by a five-member Village Council under the Council-Manager form of government. The council sets policy, adopts the annual budget and makes laws.
The Village Manager is the chief administrative officer, and a Village Clerk is appointed by the council. The village website lists departments including Building, Planning, Police, Parks & Recreation and Public Works.
The seat of government is the Pinecrest Municipal Center at 12645 Pinecrest Parkway. The 2020 census counted 18,388 residents.
