We're Crankie

We're Crankie is an organization based in Bloomington that promotes the traditional art of crankie storytelling, a scroll-based narrative form combining hand-cranked panoramic imagery with music or poetry. The organization is bringing this art form to Bloomington through its Crankie Festival, which showcases handmade crankie scrolls from artists at any stage of their career, with no experience required. The organization emphasizes the handmade nature of the craft and does not accept AI-generated art submissions.
