Wildacres Retreat is a nonprofit retreat and conference center in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It hosts other nonprofit groups running educational or cultural programs in areas such as music, art, science, pottery, quilting, interfaith dialogue and creative writing, and it takes group reservations only. The center sits on more than 1,200 acres atop Pompey's Knob at an elevation of 3,300 feet. It has been open as a retreat for nonprofit organizations and groups since 1946, when it was dedicated to the betterment of human relations. Wildacres also runs an artist residency program and an environmental artist-in-residence program, hosting about seventy artists each year for one-week stays from April through October. Its other programs include gatherings and a leadership initiative.
