Annual international design competition and exhibition turning Toronto's lifeguard stations into winter art installations.
Winter Stations is an annual public art exhibition and design competition in Toronto that invites artists, architects and designers from around the world to submit proposals. Selected teams transform the city's lifeguard stations on Kew and Woodbine Beach into temporary installations over the winter months. Each year's exhibition follows a theme, and the 2027 call, titled Monument, explores memory and myth-making in public space. There is no entry fee, and winning teams receive a $2,000 CAD award. Past winners have included university architecture programs and independent designers from Canada, the USA, Germany, Ukraine and Taiwan.
