Witness

Witness is a literary magazine that has published fiction, nonfiction, and poetry since 1987. The magazine is issue-oriented, with past themes including incarceration, nature, civil rights, love, and exile, and it aims to amplify voices from every part of the globe while opening conversations about oppression, transcendence, prejudice, and compassion. Beyond writing, Witness features cover and interior artwork and has been recognized for the photo essays included in its print issues. It publishes both in print and online, pays its contributors, and stands in solidarity with historically marginalized communities.
