Women Painters West is a community of women artists dedicated to elevating creative standards, expanding professional opportunities and connecting through art. Founded in 1921 in Laguna Beach as The Woman's Art Club of Southern California, it took its current name in 1983. It presents members' work in exhibitions held several times a year in museums, community and college galleries and private galleries, with independent jurors. It also holds monthly meetings, art shares, paint-outs, field trips and an art book club. The organization maintains a scholarship fund for art students in Southern California and gives philanthropic support to community art programs. Membership is juried and granted through an application process.
