Ready to apply?
Open Studios Kommetjie invites artists living or working in the Kommetjie area to apply to participate in our annual open studios event. Each December, selected artists open their studios to the public for a three-day weekend of studio visits, conversation, and engagement with contemporary fine art practice.
Who should apply?
We welcome applications from emerging, mid-career, and established artists with an active, studio-based fine art practice. A broad range of media is considered, including; painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, installation, and more. Provided the work is original, artist-made, and positioned within a contemporary fine art context. Limited editions or functional pieces may be included if they clearly sit within fine art parameters.
All applications go through an eligibility review by the steering committee. Applications that meet the eligibility criteria are then reviewed by an independent panel of art professionals. Selected artists present new work created during the year of the event and open their studios to visitors over the event weekend.
