If your organization is interested in applying for Tacoma Creates funding for the first time, you are encouraged to go through the Organizational Eligibility Review process. This process will determine whether your organization is eligible for Tacoma Creates funding, so that you will know whether or not to complete the full funding application, which is released in late January 2027.
Organizational eligibility requirements are explained on the Tacoma Creates website:
If you have any questions about eligibility requirements, please contact Lisa Jaret, Tacoma Creates Program Manager, at ljaret@tacoma.gov.
We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
Organizations must meet all of the following criteria. Primary Purpose: the organization's overall mission and majority of activities must be to advance and/or preserve arts, culture, heritage and/or science; organizations primarily focused on education, social services, health, or youth development are not eligible even if they offer programs in these areas. Non-Profit Status: the organization must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation incorporated under Washington State law and recognized by the IRS, or may apply using a non-profit Fiscal Sponsor if it meets the Primary Purpose, Location, and Program Delivery requirements. Organization Location: the official business address must be within Tacoma city limits, or within Pierce County if at least 75 percent of public programming is delivered in Tacoma. Program Delivery: the organization must directly provide cultural programming or experiences to the general public within Tacoma city limits. Ineligible entities include agencies of the state or political subdivisions, municipal corporations, organizations that raise funds for redistribution to multiple cultural organizations, and broadcasting, cable, internet-based communications, newspaper or magazine ventures. Business District Associations and Neighborhood Councils, and affiliate cultural programs within a larger non-profit, may also apply under additional specified criteria.
