About This Call
We accept original, previously unpublished nonfiction (including essay, memoir, and journalism) of up to 2,500 words that explores grief and loss. Your work must be yours alone and cannot be generated in whole or part by artificial intelligence (AI) or other similar tools. We look forward to reading your best work. Please DO NOT include your name or any identifying information within (or in the title of) the file you upload. But please DO include a word count at the start of the file.
Please refer to the "fine print" section of our submissions page for the complete guidelines. "Previously unpublished" means it has not been published in another publication (hard copy or digital) nor has it been published online on a website or blog. Due to a large volume of submissions, you may submit only one work at a time. Please read and follow the instructions in the submission form. Submissions that do not follow the instructions will be declined without being reviewed.
We may opt to pause or close the call for submissions early if we receive a large volume of submissions. Therefore, it is advantageous to submit early if you want to ensure that your work will be considered.
We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
