“Quilt-inspired processes — layering, stitching, piecing — across the full spectrum of quilt making and fiber-adjacent materials, from heritage techniques to experimental and conceptual work”
Introducing a combined call for entry for both quilt and fiber makers . . . traditional to abstract. This call will showcase quilt-inspired processes like layering, stitching, and piecing, as well as a full spectrum of media. From traditional bed quilts to three-dimensional mixed-media works, CONTINUUM will celebrate the infinite ways artists and makers use fiber and fiber-adjacent materials to tell stories and create visionary art.
This exhibition will not be a single aesthetic, region, or lineage, but the entire spectrum of quilt making. From heritage techniques to experimental materials, from functional to conceptual, from hand-sewn to digitally engineered, we want to see it all. All selected works will appear in a virtual exhibition hosted by Studio Art Quilt Associates and will be eligible for an on-site exhibition in 2028 at the International Quilt Museum from June 2 through November 11 2028.
Submitted artwork must be a finished, physical piece of fiber art. How you arrived at your design — whether through sketching, software, photography, AI tools, or any combination — is your process, and your process is your own. WHAT IS NOT ELIGIBLE: AI-generated images, renderings, or digital compositions submitted in place of a physical work. Artists are encouraged to disclose the tools used in their artist statements.
We jury the work based on its construction, vision, and originality. DIMENSIONS NOTE: There are no dimension restrictions, but the International Quilt Museum may consider dimensions when choosing artwork for the on-site exhibition.
