Eleven: Be There

OPEN CALL FOR ENTRIES

Be There is the theme for ELEVEN, Viewpoint's end of the year juried exhibition. When street and news photographer Arthur Fellig, who was better known by his pseudonym, Weegee, was asked for the secret of his success, he is said to have replied, "F8 and be there." Part of the reward for photographers is the experience of making photographs that are the result of preparation, seeking, opportunity, and actually being there. This is true whether the photo is of a child's first step, part of a travelogue, an amazing dig for a tennis return, light thrown by the skyscraper's windows, a still life that was the just right arrangement and clarity, or the quietude implied by new snow. The photograph holds the memory of being there and then transforms, becoming an invitation to share the experience with viewers. Viewpoint Photographic Art Center welcomes your concepts, conclusions, creativity and craftsmanship as you connect with the theme Be There for the annual ELEVEN juried exhibit. We hope you accept the challenge to BE THERE!

ELEVEN: Be There is a national Open Call for both members and non-members of Viewpoint to participate.
