Collage Artists of America (CAA) invites all artists around the globe to submit work for "Portals," an open online juried exhibition. The exhibition will be presented virtually on the Collage Artists of America website and through OnlineJuriedShows. Artists are encouraged to explore what defines a portal and to imagine one that resonates with them.
A portal might be an elaborate doorway leading to the known or unknown, an opening into another universe, an entrance into the body or mind, or any passage into something real or imagined. Types of collage that qualify: COLLAGE: Flat or very low relief. MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE: Moderate relief and/or different techniques and materials. ASSEMBLAGE: Highly dimensional, multiple three-dimensional elements, and/or freestanding.
DIGITAL COLLAGE: Combination of multiple images. Digital manipulation of single image does not qualify. Two- or three-dimensional collage, mixed-media collage, assemblage and digital collage will be accepted. Any size is acceptable as this is a virtual online show. As an OPEN exhibit, CAA members and non-members may enter a maximum of four works.
Juror: Karin Skiba, Professor Emeritus of Norco College, founder and director of the Norco College Art Gallery, inaugural director of the Hi-Desert Art Gallery, and curator at Joshua Tree's Juniper Arts Gallery.
AWARDS = $1300: First Place $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $200, Carolann Watterson Memorial Award $100, plus up to four Honorary Mentions $50 each.
