Jurying is conducted in-house by Paragon staff as a blind jury process, so scoring is based solely on the submitted images, without consideration of the artist's name, location, or outside information. Decisions are based 70% on the quality of the work shown in the artwork images and 30% on the booth presentation image, which is mandatory. Images are viewed simultaneously in a horizontal format, grouped by media, on a computer monitor, by three jurors who score separately from various locations on a scale of 1 to 10.
The show organizes a single jury panel that scores applications for all medium categories. The average number of applications submitted each year is 200, with about 70 artists selected from the jury and 3 artists exempt from jury invited to participate. Returning artists are selected by the show director or board. The jury process is closed to observation.
