Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA presents an exciting new exhibition highlighting adornments as art. Art and clothing have a distinct relationship, one that allows for people to express themselves in a means that transcends fashion and transforms fine art into kinetic expressions activated by the implied human form. Wearable art has a rich history that dates back centuries, but made itself known to the American zeitgeist in the 1970s, fueled by hippie and mod subcultures, and alongside craftivism, fiber arts and feminist art.

In recent years, the trend of upcycling has turned discarded materials into fine art wearables that speak to the environmental impacts of the fashion industry. We are looking for works that honor this history and give rise to the endless possibilities of wearable art in our current culture.
